Day 4: What am I doing?

My doctor said, "High cholesterol, high triglycerides. You need a diet with severely restricted fat and carbs."

I thought, "Ugh, here we go again."

And so the diet began.

I'm a Reform Rabbi at a 400 family congregation in Westchester County, New York. I've got a wife (also a rabbi), a two year old son and we're expecting a baby girl in a few weeks. I love my family. I love my job.

I'm not sure if this is a blog about being a rabbi or a blog about dieting but I suppose I'll find out along the way. I'm not sure the blog will work out at all. I'm not sure if the diet will work at all. I'm going to write about eating and exploring how food and Judaism and my job as a rabbi all relate. Perhaps that will help keep me on track.

For now, I need to head out for lunch with a congregant... that's right, a meal at a restaurant when I'm dieting.

Let's see where this all goes...
